Students and those in the workforce interested in becoming certified in robotics can now do so at Onondaga Community College.
Professor Mike Grieb, Chair of OCC's School of Computing & Applied Technologies, was recently certified to teach robotics on FANUC brand technology. "FANUC is one of the world leaders in robotics. It's a pretty big deal to have a base for it here. They're popular in Central New York. Places like Schneider Packaging use FANUC robotics almost exclusively."
Professor Grieb went through rigorous training to earn the certification. "We're authorized to train our students and as long as we meet their credential requirements, we can provide them a certificate directly from FANUC to indicate they have the skills needed to do material handling with FANUC robots."
OCC has a dedicated FANUC Robotics Lab in the Whitney Applied Technology Center. Prospective students, current students, or employers can learn more about robotics training by contacting the School of Computing & Applied Technologies by email at computingappliedtechnologies@sunyocc.edu or by calling (315) 498-7300.
