Onondaga Community College moved its December graduation from Storer Auditorium to SRC Arena, and the change in venue resulted in a bigger crowd and more of a celebratory feel to the event.
New OCC President Dr. Warren Hilton presided over the ceremony. During his remarks he congratulated students on what they had accomplished. "The most valuable thing you achieved was that you perfected how you learned. It's something you will need to do for the rest of your life to be successful. You have learned how to set a goal for yourself, how to manage your time and efforts, how to bring your resources together, and get it done!"
Approximately 250 students were eligible to participate in the ceremony. The final student to cross the stage was Dave Cook who left OCC in 1972 one class shy of earning his degree. He would go on to SUNY Potsdam, earn his bachelor's degree, and have a successful career managing Social Security Administration offices across New York State for 30 years. On the night of December 14, 2022, he finished what he had left undone 50 years earlier.
