Women's History Month at OCC

March 1st through 31st is the national celebration of Women's History Month. Join us for a series of events discussing important movements, work, and life experiences of women.

  • STAND UP! Resilient Black Women Who are Shaping the World with their Faith - March 2nd, C116 12:15 - 1:15
    An intimate read and Q&A with author Sarah Ausby about her personal narrative dealing with bullying, mental health challenges, resilience, and faith. 
  • 1848 Seneca Falls to the Age of COVID-19: Negotiating Women's Rights, Continuing Challenges and Resistance
    An international symposium hosted by OCC, the OCC Foundation, and Women Founders Collective (NGO). A series of panels, tours, and events that focus on the arc of the women's rights movement and the impact of women in shaping American and Indian governments. RSVP with Dr. Rick McLain via email.

  • Recognizing Gaslighting & Healthy Relationships - March 10th, M190 12:45 - 1:30
    Come share and discuss your experiences on gaslighting and healthy relationships with the Psychology club.
  • Biased: How Deaf People Experience Audism & Ableism *Collab with Deaf History Month* - March 14th, M372 12:15 - 1:15
    This panel will deal with intersectional issues about women and ableism, including speaker Jo Ripic. 

Women's History Month initially started in Santa Rosa, California as a small week-long celebration in 1978. It eventually grew in scale and has been recognized by presidents since 1995 as a month-long celebration. To check out virtual events being held, check out the government's website.
