OCC Students who will be doing research at four-year institutions over the winter break met recently with administrators to learn more about their opportunities.

A large group of students in OCC's Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (C-STEP) and Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (L-SAMP) program are busy wrapping up the fall semester and preparing for research opportunities over the semester break.

A total of 18 students met recently to learn more about the paid science research experiences they will be participating it at local four-year colleges.  Research topics include "cell responses to stress," "plant fungus interactions and climate change," and "natural insecticides, organic chemistry, and biosynthetics."

Students will present their research during a symposium on the OCC campus in February.

The research opportunities are sponsored by C-STEP, L-SAMP, OCC's School of Math, Science & Engineering, the OCC Foundation, and the Technology Alliance of Central New York.
