Each year Onondaga Community College helps thousands of area high school students get a head start on their college education by giving them the opportunity to earn college credits while they are in high school and prepare for what life on a college campus will be like. Programs geared toward high school students include:
- Pathways In Technology Early College High School or P-TECH - Students begin studying the technology program of their choice at their home high schools in their freshman and sophomore years. In their junior and senior years they take classes on the OCC campus.
- Concurrent Enrollment - Students take OCC classes in their high schools and earn college credits for them.
- OCC Advantage - A college and career readiness program for high school students at partner schools East Syracuse Minoa, Jordan-Elbridge, LaFayette, Onondaga, and Solvay.
- Spartan Academy - High School students who will be earning both their high school diplomas and associate degrees from OCC at the same time.
The person who oversees all of these programs is Flagan Prince, OCC's Director of Concurrent Enrollment and Secondary Programs. He's our guest on this edition of our podcast, "Chatting About College." You can listen to the podcast at places like iTunes and Spotify (or wherever you download fine podcasts from) by searching "Chatting About College."
