When you support students through the OCC Foundation, you support students like Giuliana Portolesi. She came to Onondaga Community College with the dream of earning her first college degree and a Division I scholarship to play goalie in Women's Lacrosse.
Portolesi is this year's recipient of the Robert H. Edson Memorial Scholarship which benefits a student who exemplifies a commitment to academic success, leadership, community service, and integrity. As she completes her second season and her General Studies degree, Portolesi has received a scholarship to play goalie at Division I Queens University of Charlotte. "OCC gave me the tools I needed to advance in my athletic and academic career. Being part of the Lazer family was the best decision I could have ever made."
Stories like hers are what makes the opportunity to support students through the OCC Foundation so rewarding. That's why the Foundation is in the middle of its "Week of Giving," which provides people the ability to use their social networks to help students through crowdsourcing. The goal is to generate 1,500 supporters. Below is an example of how students can benefit from the generosity of donors.
