Devlin Babcock
OCC Alumnus Devlin Babcock '20 returned to campus representing Cornell University at the Transfer Fair. The U.S. Navy Veteran will graduate from Cornell this December.

Three years ago at this time Devlin Babcock visited Onondaga Community College's Transfer Fair. He was a Student Veteran working toward his Engineering Science degree. He stopped at the Cornell University table and learned about their College of Engineering. Babcock liked what he heard and transferred there after completing his associate degree in May 2020.

On October 5 Babcock came full circle when he returned to OCC's Transfer Fair as a representative of Cornell University. "It was cool coming back here. I visited the Veterans office. It was nostalgic walking around campus."

Babcock is an Oswego High School graduate who spent five years in the United States Navy before enrolling at OCC. He went from being an average student in high school to an outstanding one in college, earning admission into the nation's top Engineering program.

Babcock will graduate from Cornell this December with his Electrical and Computer Engineering degree. He plans to pursue firmware or software engineering-type positions.

His return to campus presented him with an opportunity to reflect on where his journey through higher education began. "I'm really grateful for how well prepared I felt coming to Cornell. I had really good professors and classes here that prepared me. In some of my classes I had the same textbooks at Cornell as I had here. I didn't feel like I was behind when I started at Cornell."
