Responsibility for Maintenance: Campus Safety and Security
I. Policy Statement
All Onondaga Community College students requiring prescription medication are strongly advised to administer such medications prior to coming to campus.
If there is a need to take medication while on campus, students are responsible for the security of their medications, and students may not share or administer medication to any other individual on campus. Medication should be clearly labeled indicating the substance, dosage and prescribing physician.
Bio-hazardous materials, such as needles, syringes, sharps, glass medical vials and other bio-hazardous materials may not be disposed of in the regular trash. Such materials must be disposed in the College’s syringe disposal units, which are located in:
- ADA compliant unisex restrooms in Mawhinney, Whitney, and Ferrante Halls;
- Handicap stalls on the first and second floor of Coyne;
- Second floor restrooms in Allyn Hall.
II. Reason for Policy
This policy is designed to safeguard the health and safety of members of the campus community, and to ensure compliance with applicable legal restrictions as to the identity of persons authorized to possess prescription medications.
III. Applicability of the Policy
All members of the College community should be familiar with this policy.
