Who we are
The mission of Onondaga’s Community College’s Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is to provide access, academic support and financial assistance to first-time, full-time students who show promise for succeeding in college but who may need additional support throughout their time at Onondaga. The Program is designed to strengthen personal development and assist in building academic skills as students transition to the College’s social and cultural environment. We work to do this in the following ways:
- Residential Pre-Freshman Summer Institute
- Transfer Admission
- Application Fee Waiver(s)
- Advisement
- Skill Development
- Academic Coaching
- Student Navigators
- Counseling
- 20 hours in the Learning Center (Mandatory)
- Participation in the Box of Books Program (Mandatory)
- Workshops to help ensure success
- Tutoring
Once students are conditionally* accepted into Onondaga Community College and EOP, they are expected to attend the Residential Pre-Freshman Summer Institute. Students can receive up to six college credits, tutorial services, academic and personal counseling and books. The program runs for five weeks Monday-Thursday.
*Students that are accepted into the EOP program are expected to meet all program requirements. Failure to do so can lead to removal from the program.
